Spring and Summer are coming…Are you ready?

Spring/Summer is coming and I am so excited.  I am a beach bum, sun child and a water baby by nature.  I love flops and open toes sandals, swim suits and board shorts.  I smell like coconut oil and sunblock all summer long and sometimes call out of work to go surf the beaches in Jersey.  Philadelphia got its first hint of spring today with the weather being 73 degrees and rising.  It sucks that it’s going back down to 42 tomorrow, but the sudden change in weather has prompted me to do a little online shopping.  I bought five pairs of shorts that are very attractive to the eye and the wallet.  Check them out:

Old Navy Blend Roll Up Shorts - $24.50

WHAT IS THIS!?!?!

I consider myself to be artsy/creative as well as being one of the most girliest girls walking the face of the earth, and with those characteristics comes a very well seasoned risk taker when it comes to my style of fashion.  I’ve been known to wear colors that you wouldn’t normally see together.  I’ve been known to where gym attire with a $475 hand bag and 6 inch stilettos.  I’ve been known to wear plaid and pleats even after they were considered “out of fashion”.  I’ve been known to wear an outfit and only match my make-up and shoes.  I’ve even been known to wear white shoes and pants after Labor Day.  With all of that I’m just not getting the idea behind all of this…

These are all outfits from a selection of designers at London’s fashion week.  London has been named one of the fashion mecca’s of the world, but I find myself questioning that title when I see duds like this :-( .  Fashion has been compared often times to art and  YES!…YES!…YES!  I absolutely agree with that, but the difference between fashion and art is there is a point where Fashion can go way to far.  To the point where  if you find the average civilian who would wear something as shiteous as the outfits above they wouldn’t be able to wear it comfortably for longer than 10 minutes.  I praise the designer that can be creative and remain tasteful.  I have always been a fan of the risk takers in fashion like Jennifer Nicholson people who take chances on different colors, cuts, materials and looks.  People who can create an entire fall line using only the color black and still be creative enough to not look as though they’ve repeated a style.  I love fashion and I as well as my wallet will always be her biggest fan, but lately…Fashion HAS gone to far.
